The phrase "volume average" is correct and usable in written English.
You can use it when referring to the average amount of something (usually in terms of quantity) over a given period of time. For example, "The volume average of products shipped last month was 10,000 units."
The application demanded information much like the one I had filled out years earlier for PNC: anticipated annual sales volume, average transaction, highest single transaction and percentage of sales over the phone (as opposed to transactions with a swiped card).
