The word "vol" is not correct or usable in written English
There are two words that you may be thinking of that are correct and usable in written English: "vol.," which is an abbreviation for volume, and "vol," which is short for the French word "voler," meaning "to fly." Example sentence: The new issue of the magazine has a vol. of fifteen stories.
