In order to see the effect of target duration and visual masking on corrective saccades production, we calculated the rate of occurrence of corrective saccades relative to the total number of secondary saccades.
Our results indicate that non-invasive intervention in the form of corrective visual training can be very effective in partially overcoming abnormal development of basic visual functions, even when such an intervention is applied years after the critical period.
To conclude, the latency distribution of secondary saccades disclosed a dip that followed the time of target disappearance by 100 ms to 135 ms. Regarding the effect of target duration and visual mask on corrective saccade generation, only the shortest target duration (15 ms) in the mask condition and for voluntary saccade adaptation was associated with a reduced rate of corrective saccade.
Main outcome measures included best corrective visual acuity (BCVA), IOL decentration, IOL tilt, and postoperative complications.
No subjects had any ophthalmological or neurological disease, and all had visual acuity (with corrective lenses if required) of 6/6 (20/20) or better.
On ophthalmologic examination, best corrective visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/60 in the right and 20/200 in the left eye, and intraocular pressures were 12 and 11 mmHg, respectively.
