Visual and behavioural analysis led to the identification of 37 mutant phenotypes affecting embryo morphology and motility in a stereotyped way typical of recessive alleles (Table 2).
There are reports from a long-term study of wild African elephants that mature females occasionally 'simulate' the visual and behavioural signals of oestrus at times when they are not likely to be ovulating, but that coincide with the first occasions that young, nulliparous (never given birth) female relatives come into oestrus [15].
However, the visual function, behavioural consequences or even adaptive reasons for this variation remain to be tested.
We did not find significant clusters of activation, or any strong indications that hand-centred multisensory processes were operating during our tool use task, under the conditions we studied, despite the presence of strong visual-vibrotactile behavioural interactions, and the indications from previous studies that such interactions may be hand- or tool-specific [9], [10], [12].

Most participants had bilateral spastic diplegia (62.6%) with high levels (IV-V) of motor dysfunction (51.6%), moderate to severe cognitive impairment (55%), and communication problems (59.3%), visual disability (48.4%), behavioural problems (41.8%) and epilepsy as major comorbidities (Table 1).
