If ever there were a place to transport a visitor back across the ages, Hadhramaut is it.
In Greensboro, N.C., this month, the International Civil Rights Center and Museum opened, thrusting the visitor back into the full horrors of Southern Jim Crow segregation in the first half of the 20th century — laws and customs that undid the Reconstruction's conception of the New South with a vengeance.
