If the Williams show has the feeling of a pleasantly deranged studio visit, things are a little more focused at the Derek Eller Gallery (615 West 27th Street), where 11 collage-drawings made and revised by Mr. Thayer over the last five years are on view.

Each time I'd visit, things were a little worse.
The restaurant, which has sweeping views of the train-station parking lot, Metro-North tracks and I-95, can seat 300, and on the two weekend nights I visited, things were at or near capacity.

For a sense of how different things are today, visit the new Whitney, in the meatpacking district, where wood-floored capacious spaces with glass walls afford panoramas of Manhattan and the Hudson River.
So these older people would leave open medicine bottles all around, and their grandchildren would come and visit them same thing was happening.
