One set of samples emits violet light (around 400 nm), while the other set of samples grown under higher substrate temperature emits green light (around 520 nm).
Violet stuck around for almost 40 minutes (the whole video is archived and can be viewed here starting at about 1 hour 43 minutes).
A lot of the jobs, let's face it, are pure make-work: clearing dead-end trails through national forests, planting violets around school flagpoles.
Initially, the cap color is dark violet, but it later fades to grayish-violet around the edges.
