TUNIS — Tunisia's interim government abruptly shut down the country's oldest and most popular private television network on Sunday evening, in an apparent violation of its pledges to respect freedom of expression after the ouster of the authoritarian president Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali.
Town residents said that over the next several days, soldiers seized young and middle-aged men from their homes and looted a number of houses, all in violation of military pledges made last year calling for Chechen authorities to be present to observe such "mopping up" operations.
As soon as the official pretext for NATO dissolved in 1989, NATO was expanded to the East in violation of verbal pledges to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
That bill contains many provisions which are in violation of the pledges he made on the campaign trail, and there has been no signal from the White House or anyone else involved that any fixes have been made other than sweetheart deal for autos and beef.
