Will a vertex keep its importance throughout the system's lifetime?
For example, a node with very high degree is obviously more important compared to a node having degree 1 or 2. There is an important relation between vertex degree and functional importance of the vertices in biological networks [ 83].
The position of each species in this pyramid, namely its distance from each vertex, indicates the relative importance of each task in the niche in which that species evolved.
Another interesting aspect of the graph is the relative importance of each vertex as measured by the betweenness centrality of the vertex [25], [26].
Centrality in graph theory and network analysis is a quantification of the relative importance of a vertex within the graph.
The simplest way to measure the "importance" of a vertex in a network is consider its degree, a metric known as degree centrality.
This occurs, for instance, when comparing the properties of different networks or evaluating the importance of a vertex in a specific layer.
We then compute three kinds of centrality measures that were initially developed by Freeman (1979) before later being made amenable in STATA by Miura (2012) and Cerulli and Zinilli (2014): Degree centrality measures the importance of a vertex by the number of its connections and was obtained from peer advice network information.
Betweeness is a measure of centrality indicating the relative importance of a vertex within the network.
Centrality measures, in general, capture the structural importance of a vertex with respect to the rest of the network [27].
