G. sulfurreducens, a delta-Proteobacterium characterized by its anaerobic versatile lifestyle, has a genome that shares many characteristics with aerobes.
The distribution of functional categories according to the COG classification ([44], Table 2) was as expected for a free-living proteobacterium with a versatile lifestyle and the observed genome size.
