Pace – velocity, speed, rate, momentum, tempo.
The Walk Across (WA) test will be used to measure several characteristics of gait (gait velocity, step width, double support duration -% gait cycle) as the participant walks at comfortable pace across the long force plate [ 30].
Velocity means the pace at which data flows in.
However we did not find pace (velocity and step length) and rhythm (temporal variables) separated onto unique domains.
The variation in Lac in the present study could be explained mostly (36%) by sex, age group, distance, velocity, BWR and pace, whereas rider accounted for 14% of the random variation.
Furthermore, we took a capillary blood lactate samples (Lactate Pro, Arkray, KDK, Japan) from the fingertip at the conclusion of each interval and determined blood lactate concentrations remained below 4 mmol·L−1 (range 1.9 to 3.4 mmol·L−1 at the fastest running velocity), indicating the paces were within normal training paces for these athletes.
One trial measured the gait velocity at a self-selected pace: this was the single-task condition (single GV).
"We estimate that the flow velocities were walking pace, approximately - it's not something we can absolutely reconstruct, but it gives us a rough idea, and these are minimum values," explained Prof Sanjeev Gupta from Imperial College London, UK. "And we can also say that the water depths ranged from ankle-deep to waist-deep.
Patients using a virtual environment-based training showed greater improvement in a fast paced velocity test in comparison to the patients who trained in the real world.
"London will always be a hotbed of creativity," he says, "but it will never have the pace and velocity of New York".
