Genes for MHC molecules do indeed undergo very active expansion ('birth') and contraction ('death'), as testified by the extreme variability in the number of the various loci coding for different MHC molecules, even within species [ 18, 23, 24].
Moreover, correlating NMR features to known metabolic phenotypes determined on other platforms can help in the interpretation of the observed genetic associations for various loci and the characterization of the associated NMR trait, as shown in this study for the CPS1, FADS1, and GCKR loci.
The marker boundaries of these locations encompass between 1.4 and 18.6 million basepairs (Mbp) for various loci.
For many loci, allele frequencies were biased in plants exposed to natural field conditions, including over-representation of crop alleles for various loci.
