We study Coalitional Resource Games (crgs), a variation of Qualitative Coalitional Games (qcgs) in which each agent is endowed with a set of resources, and the ability of a coalition to bring about a set of goals depends on whether they are collectively endowed with the necessary resources.
We previously reported that Hsp90 had no effect on measures of environmental canalization of several normally variable quantitative traits while at the same time, across the same set of flies, Hsp90 did control morphological variation of qualitative features specific to particular strain backgrounds, measures of genetic canalization [19].

To assess variation in processes of care, we used the Index of Qualitative Variation (IQV).

If bodies either are, or are appearances of, persistent patterns of qualitative variation of extended regions, then it seems necessary, though hardly sufficient, then something about such patterns would have to account for this stability.
Ned Markosian (1998, 2004a) responds to the problem of qualitative variation by appeal to the distinction between things (e.g., material objects) and stuff (e.g., matter).
Accordingly, the standard criticisms of the relevant theories of persistence and change (on which see Haslanger 2003) would seem to apply equally to the relativizing approach to the problem of qualitative variation for extended simples.
