Irrespective of the offset, the overall seasonal variation of occurrence of the storms in both versions of Dst in 50 years exhibits nearly equal (~±28%) semiannual patterns (Fig. 4) with maxima at equinoxes and minima in solstices.
The fractional variation of occurrence (FVO) was used to determine and compare the strengths of the periodicities among the various motifs [35].
However, the variation of occurrence (and in 3 cases even absence) of XYR1 binding sites in the promoters of these genes makes an action of XYR1 as a repressor of these genes unlikely.
Figure 2 shows the diurnal variations of occurrence rate of the MSTID propagation direction for the entire period and three seasons: equinox (March, April, September, and October), summer (May, June, July, and August) and winter (November, December, January, and February).
Huang and Hairston (2015) compared the seasonal/longitudinal variations of the PRE with the variations of occurrence of small-amplitude and large-amplitude ESF irregularities, and they found that the PRE plays a controlling role in the generation of large-amplitude ESF.
Fourier-transform analysis of this frequency data was used to construct Table S1, which gives the periodicities, fractional variations of occurrence (FVOs), and phase angles for each tetranucleotide.
Notably, the variation of the occurrence of high and low refractive index layers, gives a tool to tune also the width of the peaks.

To examine the seasonal variation of the occurrence of the EEJ plasma irregularities, we have selected the data collected during 196 days during the period 2007 to 2008.
