We observed an excess of rare, derived NR2E1 variants, as indicated by the significantly negative Fu and Li's D* and F* values, which could be evidence of a 'selective sweep' (i.e. the rare variants have 'hitch-hiked' along with a variant on which positive selection has occurred) (Fay & Wu 2000).
