Wavelet transform of the time evolution of the 2nd modal coefficient revealed that while a continuous increase in the natural frequency of the droplet occurs with time due to the diameter regression induced by vaporization in the case of ethanol droplet, no such change in resonant frequency occurs in the case of the agglomerating droplet.
The problem was overcome by mixing the CdO with ZrO2; in this case vaporization rate of Cd metal was lowered by its dispersion in the refractory metal oxide matrix which permits the effective quenching of vaporized metal.
The strong correlations between lnA and lnF for n-C6 (R 2 = 0.998, 0.99, and 0.98 for the pure single phase, in 1 g soil, and in 2 g soil, respectively) and n-C9 (R 2 = 0.99 and 0.99 for the pure single and in 1 g soil, respectively) (Fig. 4) indicate that the vaporization in each case followed the Rayleigh trend.
In some cases, vaporization rates were high enough to measure the rate from consecutive droplets, yielding a quasi-instantaneous measurement.
The merit of the combustion within porous medium is that heat is recirculated from the combustion gas to porous medium at upstream wherein vaporization is taken place (in case of liquid fuel) or preheated (in case of gaseous fuel) before mixing with the combustion air followed by combustion within another porous medium at downstream.
These methods are illustrated for the practical cases of vaporization and combustion of individual droplets of gasoline, diesel or aviation fuel JP4.
A capillary system enhances the solar energy transfer to the internal fluid flow because, on one hand, it supports the wetting of the inner surface of absorbers under a stratified environment – due to capillary pumping – and, on the other hand, it promotes vaporization – nucleate boiling in the case of a porous medium or thin film evaporation in the case of a micro-channeled pipe.
It is demonstrated that, in the no-slip velocity case, increasing the vaporization Damköhler number can produce flame extinction, presumably due to the more intense heat loss incurred due to droplet heat absorption necessary for vaporization.
In the case of laser-induced vaporization, studying the thickness of the deposited films vs. the number of laser impulses, presented in Fig. 4, a good linear dependence can be noticed.
Several test cases concerning supercritical droplet vaporization in both quiescent and convective environments are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present algorithm.
