Small values for the absorption peaks of CSTO-capped PbS nanocrystals indicate that the strength of the covalent attachment of CSTO to surfaces of PbS is better than RA.

As can be seen, this efficiency is approximately constant for small values of the absorption coefficient but starts dropping when absorption becomes comparable to the reduced scattering coefficient.

Note that for smaller detector diameters, reflectance exhibits an approximately linear dependence on the reduced scattering coefficient and this holds for all values of the absorption coefficient.

These parameters can be determined by fitting the MC data to Eq. (1) (Fig. 2). Figure 3 shows the resulting values of k1 and k2 as a function of detector radius for different values of the absorption coefficient.

Calculated values of the absorption coefficient for the laser beam energy show these plasma properties to be commensurate with the observed energy and size.

The first one is for the highest values of the absorption coefficient (α ≥ 104 cm−1) which corresponds to transitions between extended states in both valence and conduction bands where the power law of Tauc [26] is valid.

The order of the calculated values of the absorption coefficient for Ga x Se100−x nanorods is in the range ~104 cm−1, which is consistent with the result of other workers [32, 33].
