The resulting optimum ln u), position shift, and length correction values can then be used as initial values for further optimization using the "Simplex method".

We maximize the similarity score using the Nelder Mead simplex optimization over the rigid transformations of the query (Nelder and Mead, 1965).
A slightly modified Osteryoung-O'Dea method (square wave voltammetry in conjunction with the methods of the simplex optimization) was used to determine the heterogeneous kinetic parameters, α, Er12 and ks,h, of the first-step reduction of naphtho-and anthraquinones substituted with chloro-methly-, and [2-[2-hydroxyethyl)amino]ethyl]amino and [2- dimethylamino)ethyl]amino groups.
Thermal coefficients used in the model are also adjusted by the simplex optimization technique.
The total amount of effectively encapsulated oil was evaluated using a combination of full factorial experimental design and the simplex optimization algorithm and the following independent factors were evaluated: encapsulant polymer, dispersion mechanism, polymer:oil mass ratio and surfactant.
Note that for the "Simplex method", ABIC value plots are color-coded, and larger symbols indicate greater iteration number of the simplex optimization process.
During the optimization, each complex evolves based on a statistical reproduction process that uses the simplex geometric shape to direct the search in the correct direction.
