The majority of RV strains attach to the cell by the intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), whereas a small number of serotypes use the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) to gain entrance into human cells (Greve et al., 1989, Hofer et al., 1994).
