These micrographs were scanned with a film scanner and analysed using an image analyser (NIH Image, Ver. 1.60, NIH, Bethesda. MD, USA).
The MRIs were analysed using an image analysis software package ImageJ (National Institute of Health, Maryland, USA, http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/).
