We report here a case of sepsis caused by S. suis serotype 31 in a patient in Thailand, using a polyphasic approach to identify this bacterium, as well as the results of genetic characterization of putative virulence gene profile, capsule gene (cps) locus, and genetic relatedness of S. suis serotype 31.
