In this paper, we study the centralized spectrum access and power management for several opportunistic users, secondary users (SUs), without hurting the primary users (PUs).
Given secondary users did not disturb the communication of main users, secondary users could opportunistically occupy available bands of main users.
CR entails the temporary usage of unused portions of the spectrum (spectrum holes or white spaces), owned by the licensed users (Primary Users--PUs), to be accessed by unlicensed users (Secondary Users--SUs).
By employing spatial holes like location and power information of primary network users, secondary users can reduce their interference to the primary network by efficient utilization of this information in beamforming and power control algorithms.
Cognitive technology enables licensed users (primary users, PUs) to trade the surplus spectrum and to transfer temporarily spectrum usage right to the unlicensed users (secondary users, SUs) to get some reward.
It temporarily allows unused portions of the spectrum (spectrum holes/white-spaces), owned by the licensed users (primary users PUs), to be accessed by unlicensed users (secondary users SUs), without causing intrusive interference to the former's communication[1].
