This study used 10 questions to assess vision-related QOL in the epiphora patients with reference to OSDI with simple scoring from 0 to 4. From analysis of the patients who underwent dacryocystorhinostomy, all item scores were significantly decreased postsurgery, which reflected the usefulness of the items for QOL assessment in epiphora patients.
When the items are aggregated to form the intended dimension, IRT can identify the usefulness of an item as well as indicate whether an item contributes to forming the dimension.
To investigate the usefulness of each item, the relationship between scores assigned to an item (i.e., the score "option" chosen for a given patient at a given point in time, such as 1to 7) and the overall severity of the illness (total subscale score) was assessed.
The usefulness of multi-item questionnaires also depends on the validity, which is a key quality component.
In each round of the study, the usefulness of each item for inclusion in the mental health first aid guidelines was rated as essential, important, don't know or depends, unimportant, or should not be included.
B. Preparation for FM by the medical program (26 items): opinions about the need for mandatory training in FM (5 items) and how it should be delivered (5 items), importance of contributions made by FM in various areas of the curriculum (13 items), and usefulness of PC rotations (3 items).
The item asking about the usefulness of the Internet (item 1 from the eHealth literacy scale according to Norman and Skinner) was assigned five response options: from not useful at all to very useful, with the neutral option in the middle [ 35].

Lastly, additional work should assess the usefulness of the 3 items that were kept in the questionnaire but that did not load on either domain.
While both these studies [ 29, 30] provide evidence as to the usefulness of HL screening items among Spanish speakers, their study populations were limited to older (≥55 years of age) adults with established chronic disease (type 2 diabetes) residing in California.
