The design of the systems took into consideration several aspects that need to be balanced in the construction of efficient and useful arrays, in particular the spatial displacement of the units, their energy content distribution and the nature of the linkers that connect them.
Although the signal derived from a cohybridized A. thaliana synthetic target is useful for array quality control, using it to normalize potentially different amounts of support-bound probe between spots did not improve the overall correlation of reconstitution experiments (data not shown), lending support to the lack of linearity arising from differences in hybridization efficiency.
