"Like" is properly used as a preposition.
As in many dialects along the Eastern Seaboard, down can be used as a preposition indicating movement from the inland toward the shoreline.
In the following example, from Michoacán Nahual, the postposition -ka meaning "with" appears used as a preposition, with no preceding object: :ti-ya ti-k-wika ka tel :you-go you-it-carry with you :"are you going to carry it with you?" (Michoacán Nahual) And, in this example from Mexicanero Nahuat, of Durango, the original postposition/relational noun -pin "in/on" is used as a preposition.
Stressing here doesn't add emphasis or information because "to" is simply being used as a preposition.
