We will also see SpaceX attempt to recover the fairing used on this mission, using a new barge designed for the purpose called 'Mr. Steven.' The vessel is basically a large landing platform with a net strung across its surface, which is intended to capture the fairing as it returns to Earth gently, assisted by special parachutes.

The Kennedy launch complex used for this mission, which SpaceX has leased from NASA, is as historic as its latest resident – it was previously used for both the Apollo program and the Space Shuttle before being taken over and reconfigured for Falcon Heavy by SpaceX.

The detector used in this mission is identical to the one already flying on the Russian satellite Resurs-O1 n.4 in a 840-km sun-synchronous orbit, but makes use of the extensive computer and telemetry capabilities of MITA bus to improve the active data acquisition time.
