Although the study involved a particular group of people, it is likely that similar patterns of continuous medication use experiences exist in other rural parts of Tanzania and elsewhere in SSA, as inadequate availability of diabetes services and out-of-pocket payments are features of many SSA health systems [ 2, 13, 14].
The aim of this work was to assess the effects of continuous medication monitoring (CoMM) on: 1) total costs of care; 2) proportion of days covered (PDC) rates; and 3) use of high-risk medications by older patients.
