Treatment with barrier membranes alone or in combination with different grafting materials, the use of biologic active substances such as enamel matrix proteins or growth factors have been shown to promote periodontal regeneration and to significantly improve the clinical outcomes evidenced by probing depth reduction, clinical attachment gain and defect fill [ 7].
