We defined high-density placental parasitemia as >10,000 parasites/μL, which corresponded approximately to the uppermost quintile of parasite density.
Macropore flow appears to be controlled by the interaction between the bulk density of the uppermost topsoil layer (0 0.10 m) and the macroporosity of the soil below.
The inferred density of the uppermost mantle, composed of a restite, anti-continent layer, was higher than that for the underlying normal mantle (Fig. 3) due to garnet stabilization in the restite layer (Fig. 5 and Table 2).
The uppermost fractions 15-200) from the density gradient contains the bulk of the plasma membrane and were pooled, diluted in 5 volumes HB-II and pelleted by centrifugation at 100,000 × g for 1.5 h at 4°C.
This prominent change in P-velocities indicates a distinct increase of densities within the uppermost mantle compared to the lower crust.
This intentional bias was based on the assumption that genes with the uppermost high purity intronic STR densities are more likely to have polymorphic STRs under evolutionary selection.
They suggest the existence of the subducting Kyushu-Palau Ridge with a lower density than the surrounding uppermost mantle and that the subducting Kyushu-Palau Ridge yields detachment due to buoyancy caused by the density contrast.
However, Mn is particularly enriched in the uppermost 100 μm or so, and the density of Mn-bearing particles tails-off precipitously with depth from the rock surface (Fig. 8a).
The uppermost layer was the mixed layer, where the density was vertically uniform.
