Design sensitivity analysis showed increasing the height and upper diameter of the scaffold can tremendously reduce the TD and EQV of the model, while increasing the bottom diameter of scaffold can, to some extent, reduce the EQV in post.
The optimal scaffold adopted a slightly tapered shape with the upper diameter of 4.9 mm, bottom diameter of 3.4 mm; the length of the optimized scaffold shape was 9.4 mm.
Seedlings with a similar size were transplanted individually into plastic pots (26 × 20 × 28 cm; upper diameter × lower diameter × height) in June 2011 and all plants were fully watered to ensure healthy growth.
Likewise, the number of subsample trees and the selection of measurements taken from each tree (e.g. height and/or upper diameter) can be difficult to account for in detail in an analytical setting.

The quantity of water for the cement was determined based on the flowability requirement by means of spread tests with the mini flow cone for which dimensions are 8 cm for lower diameter, 7 cm for upper diameter and 4 cm for the height (Fig. 4).
In total, 18 test areas were measured, together with the planar coordinates of the trees (with d1.3 ≥ 2.5 cm) mapped with tachymeter (SOKKIA SET 4C), as well as d1.3 (in two perpendicular directions), height (h, m), and upper diameter at a height of 6 m (d6, cm) (for trees ≥ 8 m tall).
In the analysis, the volumes of the tally trees were estimated using this simple model (10), while for the subsample trees the above mentioned measured volumes were used, to describe the effect of not measuring the height and upper diameter of each tree in the plot.
This is unlike in adjacent state of New South Wales NSWwhereere native hardwood forest harvesting removal can include removal of high quality trees for veneer, and others for sawlog and a small fraction for pulp, and individual trees are harvested up to the non-merchantable upper diameter (Ximenes et al. 2008).
