DNA within the modal size range of the untreated fraction (1 4 Kb) was excised and extracted from gel slices with Gel Extraction spin columns (Qiagen).
The concentration of polysaccharides in the eluted sample (Acai-1ER) was adjusted to match that of the untreated fraction (Acai-1), as determined by diene group content (absorbance at 254 nm) [46].
