For those of us who love sweets and have binged on them in the past with significant weight gain, unlimited or unrestricted intake of all fruits and some vegetables is an invitation for increased caloric intake and decreased weight loss.
However, manipulations of the diet by compound inclusion or individual nutrient restrictions, because they permit unrestricted intake, remains a type of intervention that more people will likely accept than CR as a change in their lifestyle.
