An official API or application programming interface, is often used to allow third-party apps to access services like Twitter or Facebook, but Snapchat doesn't provide one — so programmers figure out the characteristics on their own and create unofficial clones or utilities that send data over Snapchat's network.
Numerous unofficial clones were made as well, such as the popular computer games Super Invader (1979) and TI Invaders (1981).

Now, not that any of us in the West truly understand the seedy underworld of Chinese gadget cloning, but it's entirely possible that, at least from where I sit, these cases and clones are sourcing the same set of unofficial dimensions.
