"unity of intent" is a correct and usable phrase in written English.
It is often used to refer to a group of people who all agree on a course of action or who are all working together to achieve a common goal. For example: "The team's unity of intent made it easier to accomplish the project within the given timeframe."
Obviously, a realm as boundless and diverse as nonfictional prose literature cannot be characterized as having any unity of intent, of technique, or of style.
