"unimportant thoughts" is a correct and usable phrase in written English
It can be used to describe thoughts or ideas that are not significant or relevant in a particular context. For example: I couldn't focus on the lecture because my mind was filled with unimportant thoughts about what to have for lunch. While reading the novel, I found myself getting lost in unimportant thoughts and had to reread the page.
