Animals were subjected to either bilateral (study-1) or unilateral (study-2) injections of CTX (25 µl at 10 µM, spread over three injections sites: proximal, mid, and distal sites of the TA) into the TA muscle and tissues were harvested 3, 10 and 21 days post injection (study-1) or 4, 7, 14 and 21 days post injection (study-2).
