The Drosophila neuromuscular junction (NMJ), which is a well-established model system for mammalian central excitatory/glutamatergic synapses, has already provided major insights into synapse biology underlying ID (30).
We believe the mechanisms underlying ID-images are of high priority with regard to both further investigation and the development of interventions for suicidality – both diagnostically, in terms of suicidal risk (and depression severity, in general), and as a crucial target of specialized interventions.

At the same time, however, it has become clear that this diversity of IDs has common underlying principles, not only in shared molecular mechanisms, but also in interrelated clinical impacts upon growth, development and metabolism.
Previous studies have not looked into the underlying cognitive mechanisms used by ID experts for designing decision support tools.
