Yarwood et al. [ 54] grew wild type (WT) and accessory gene regulator (agr) mutant biofilms of S. aureus by batch culture under static conditions, batch culture on spinning disks, and in flow cells.

However, results from static batch adsorption experiments have limited applicability to dynamic bacterial transport in columns.
Conventional methanol extraction was also performed to compare with CFE and static batch extraction.
Bacteria form biofilm not only in static batch cultures such as we used but also in batch cultures on orbital shaker [ 40], and in flow-through chemostats [ 41].
However, one drawback with the CFE system is that higher dilution of the extract occurs compared to a static batch extraction.
In this study, the effect of solution pH, adsorption capacity determination, effect of contact time, and effect of coexisting ions were investigated under static conditions by batch mode.
