There is a lot of what can be grouped under the term American Impressionism.
(JJ) Degas is the most misunderstood of all the artists who became controversial and then rich in 19th-century Paris under the nickname of impressionism.
It will be playing there through May 13th, and you could say it's an assemblage of footage—I mean, canvases by the editor um, curator Colin B. Bailey, under the title "Renoir, Impressionism, and Full-Length Painting".

This aspect of Bronzino's art made me think of movies, which may have been born as the second coming of Impressionism but which quickly put on their public face and, under makeup and technique, tended to lose sight of the offhanded, intimate miracle.
