The legal decision in New York is the latest chapter in a $1bn lawsuit brought by the media giant Viacom over the alleged unauthorised posting of content from its hit shows including South Park, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

Unsurprisingly, attackers have sought to circumvent or bypass DRM control in order to obtain unauthorised access to copyrighted content.
"The proposed German law, currently in draft form, would apply to any aggregator, not just Google, and would provide a legal basis to prohibit unauthorised use of publishers' content".
The spokesperson confirmed to VICE that as part of their regulations "gambling operators must not advertise on websites which provide unauthorised access to copyrighted content", but a number of firms do not appear to be paying attention.

The European Publishers Council (EPC), whose members represent the interests of publishers in 14 European countries, has responded to Google's establishment of a €60 million fund for French publishers — saying the deal does not go far enough to address "the continuing problem of unauthorised reuse and monetisation of content".
The second is digital-rights management software, or DRM, which protects such content against piracy and unauthorised copying.
