Most of the ultrastructural information available on Cuvierian tubules comes from VandenSpiegel and Jangoux [27] and VandenSpiegel et al. [28], who clarified much of the structure and function of these organs in the species H. forskali.
However, currently little ultrastructural information is available on distribution of these factors in neurosecretory cells, like chromaffin cells especially not in mutant systems with docking-phenotypes that we previously generated (de Wit et al. 2009).
Despite the lack of ultrastructural information in this manuscript, however, this is a valuable contribution to the current discussion on C. elegans meiosis.

Besides ultrastructural and biochemical studies and the information on the metabolic role in other plant species of phylogenetically related genes, the functional analysis will require the selective silencing of the PDI and PDI-like genes in wheat plants and the characterization of the regulatory motifs through the expression studies of the progressive deletions of their promoters.
