Changes in small mammal biomass during the early meadow-to-forest succession mostly depended on the type of succession.
Irrespective of the type of succession, the average biomass of small mammals was 399.0 ± 68.6 g∙ha−1 in the meadow, 424.1 ± 83.1 g∙ha−1 in the young forest and 367.9 ± 50.9 g∙ha−1 in the advanced forest, with the differences between habitats not significant (meadow – young forest, t = 0.23, meadow – advanced forest, t = 0.58, young forest – advanced forest t = 0.36).
The upper right corner of the wrapping are colour coded according to the type of succession.

For both types of succession combined, the average small mammal abundance was (mean ± SE) 18.19 ± 2.27 (0–40) ind.
Three types of forest succession are shown: progression of the forest edge, formation and coalescence of clumps in savanna and global afforestation of savanna.
The total effect of "succession type" (Human Induced Succession or Natural Succession) or "habitat", "year" and "species" on the biomass of small mammals was significant (ANOVA, r 2 = 0.62, F 161,240 = 2.46, P < 0.0001).

When S = 0, then When S = 1, then the following relations apply In the S = 1 configuration, different types of interstratification may be distinguished from the probability of succession of the layer type having the lowest abundance.
One adaptation-specific aspect reported for several sites (relating to hydrology as well as vegetation) was to manage sites for variation and heterogeneity in habitat structure (e.g., a range of water levels, vegetation of different types and at different stages of succession).
In the final session, the men completed four sets of leg extensions and then rode the bicycle for 20 minutes, finishing half as much of each type of exercise, but in rapid succession.
