Two atoms of the same type combine to form a dyad (dyaṇuka) and three dyads of the same type combine to form a triad (tryaṇuka), which is held to be the smallest perceptible object.
Twenty-nine dyads of AD patient/caregiver were included.
One hundred eighty-seven dyads of 8- to 12-year-old children (60 obese, 127 normal-weight) and their parents were recruited.
Eighty-five dyads of children with disabilities and their primary caregivers participated in the study between April and July 2013 in the Patagonia Region, Chile.
To exclude the possibility that results were influenced by other factors besides the production of grunts, sex (three levels: dyads of two males (mm), two females (ff) or a male and a female (mf), age of the approaching animal (adult or subadult) and kin were also included as fixed factors.
Of the three dyads for which age, sex and bonding class were matched (as these affect the outcome of an encounter, see above), all were fully unidirectional (i.e. conflicts were always won by the same individual).
Methods & Procedures: Quantitative and qualitative methods are used to analyse multiple pre-therapy and follow up assessments of conversation for two dyads.
A multiple baseline design across two dyads replicated across three additional dyads was used to determine the effects of the intervention.
