We report carbon footprint calculations for two alternative material sourcing scenarios: sustainably sourced and non-sustainably sourced wood and bamboo.
Four alternative materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), glass reinforced polymer (GRP) and mild steel (MS) and five assessment attributes/criteria such as yield strength, life, thickness, cost of material and maintenance cost have been considered in the analysis.
The selection of an optimal material for repair application from among two or more alternative materials on the basis of two or more criteria is a multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) problem.

Two alternative methods (see Materials and Methods) revealed a similar number of genes with astrocyte-enriched expression with comparison of TRAP with the total RNA samples: Cuffdiff identified 3750, whereas DESeq identified 3795 genes.

For resource use, we choose energy (two alternative data sets in energy units), material flows, and carbon emissions (in mass units).
These two methods are used to rank the alternative materials, for which several requirements are considered simultaneously.
