This paper examines design optimization of a three-dimensional diffusing S-duct using a modified k ω shear stress transport (SST) turbulent model as a turbulence prediction method.
The comparisons of the turbulence models, the Standard k-ε turbulent model, the renormalized group (RNG) k-ε turbulent model, the realizable k-ε turbulent model, and the shear stress transport (SST) k-ω turbulent model and correlations (Incropera and Dewitt 2006) on the Nusselt number and friction factor of the smooth tube are shown in Fig. 4a, b, respectively.
