As part of our Global generations 3.0 study, which looked at trust levels in the workforce, we surveyed 3,200 Gen Zers (ages 16-18) across 8 countries: US, UK, Mexico, Brazil, China, Japan, India and Germany; to learn about what factors might impact their trust in a future employer.
For example, Rothstein and Uslaner 2005; Leigh 2006; Algan and Cahuc 2007b; and Aghion et al. 2010 show that trust levels vary depending on local, social and economic conditions.
As a result, α 3 gives the unexplained difference in trust levels between the United States in the 2000's and Australia in other years than 20056.
Similarly, Algan and Cahuc (2010) exploit the fact that trust levels of US immigrants vary by home country and show that individual trust is partly transmitted from previous generations.
