We have designed and tested a superconducting fault detector (SFD) for a 22.9 kV superconductor triggered fault current limiters (STFCLs) using Au/YBCO thin films.
First, the randomly occurring actuator faults and their failures rates are governed by two sets of unrelated random variables satisfying certain probabilistic failures of every actuator, new type of distribution based event triggered fault model is proposed, which utilize the effect of transmission delay.
In the present case, because the rake of the imposed slip matched the rake of the triggered fault, and because the resolved triggering stress was sufficiently large, it might have been easy for a rupture to propagate in the favorable direction.
It removes much of the effort and risk of error associated with collating other forms of data such as triggered fault records (which may be accurately timestamped but have different start/end times).

Operator choices and subsurface uncertainties each have significant effects on avoiding the risk of triggering fault failure or intact rock failure that could lead to CO2 leakage.
A COUPLE of months ago a sudden heatwave triggered a fault in the electricity grid in Buenos Aires, leaving the presidential palace, Congress and millions of residents in Argentina's capital without power for hours.
Tilted trees and meter-scale local landslides triggered by fault slip were commonly observed along the rupture zone.
The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Wenchuan County, which triggered a fault rupture length of about 300 km, stretching northeast through Beichuan County and reaching Qingchuan County; many towns on both sides of the fault were severely damaged/destroyed, reaching an earthquake damage intensity of XI.
Therefore, in order to discover whether the Itozawa fault rupture triggered the Yunodake fault rupture, we calculated the effect of the static ΔCFF of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake on the Yunodake fault; the static ΔCFF was calculated based on Okada (1992) using the final slip distribution of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake (Kubo and Kakehi 2013).
Therefore, in consideration of such results, it is concluded that the Itozawa fault rupture triggered the Yunodake fault rupture.
Loading of the continental margins could activate faults, triggering increased numbers of earthquakes, which in turn could spawn giant submarine landslides.
