All wolves were tested 1 week before the habituation trials of experiment 1b.
The first 250 trials of experiment 2, before the variance of the prior switched, were identical to experiment 1.
Indeed, in the second 250 trials of experiment 2 there were apparent differences in the rate at which subjects learned the prior's variance.
Subjects acquired the correct variance over a slower time-scale, statistically indistinguishable from the first 250 trials of experiment 1 (in a bin-by-bin comparison, there were no significant differences, two sample t-tests, p>0.1).
All 720 trials of experiment 2 were classified by serially excluding the respective strategies from the most to the less precisely defined (i.e., direct search, focal search, directed search, chaining, scanning, random search, thigmotaxis; [17]).
