The criterion for removal was if the trial trajectory went outside 2.5 * the standard deviation of the twenty trials.
The three classifiers relied on the following features, respectively: combinations of mean firing rate (mean rate classifier), the specificity of patterns irrespectively of where in the trial they occur (specificity classifier), and the time-specific position of the patterns within the trial (trajectory classifier).
This design presents stimuli at sufficient temporal spacing for determining within-trial trajectories of BOLD activation, allowing for the analysis of stimulus-locked temporal covariation of brain responses in multiple regions.
