The stability of direction-tuned cells was evaluated by correlation of either the spikes in each half of a trial (within-trial stability) or the spikes of two consecutive trials (between-trial stability).
Across-trial stability was defined as the correlation (Pearson's r) between spatially corresponding bins from two consecutive trials.
The across-trial stability of early HD cells (ADN and PrSd at P12 and PrSd at P13) was less than that expected by chance.
Intra-trial stability was defined as the correlation between spatially corresponding bins from the first and second half of a single trial.
